The Haskins Society is proud to be co-sponsoring an important set of conferences, which has its concluding installment in a conference at the renowned École française de Rome. The thematic intersections are many, given the geographic and chronological expanses open to exploration.
This meeting is part of the Pax normanna program (dirs. Pierre Bauduin, Université de Caen-Normandie/CRAHAM, and Annick Peters-Custot, Nantes Université/CRHIA), one of the École française de Rome's structuring research programs for 2022-2026. It therefore follows the program's previous scientific meetings: the Cérisy conference (October 2022) on “Pacification”, the meetings devoted to the “First generations of the conquest” held in Oxford (October 2023); another on “Those who leave;” the Ariano Irpino (October 2024) focus on “To settle;” and the Symposium (October 2025) at the University of Calabria on "Governing Plurality."
The Call for Papers is out (with an extension until 10 May 2026), with a thorough preview of the thematic possibilities open for exploration.
